Study system in the United States
The American education system is very unique. It is completely decentralized!
Higher education institutions are very autonomous both in the design and definition of programs and in the level of recruitment of their teaching staff and students. The admissions process differs from one institution to another.
The studies are organized around 3 cycles:
⇒ Vocational school (or Technical Schools): These are specialized professional training courses, generally short, prepared in two years. The only particularity of these diplomas is that they do not allow you to enter the university at the Undergraduate level.
⇒ Undergraduate: Leading to a Bachelor of Science/Arts degree (prepared in 3 years = bac+3) or a Bachelor of Honor degree (prepared in 4 years = bac+4);
⇒ Graduate studies: Lead to a diploma of:
- Master of Science/arts, MBA (equivalent to a Master 2 or Bac+5);
- Doctorate (Phd) prepared in 3 years after a Master’s degree.
Admission tests in the United States
- English tests
To be able to study in the United States (USA) and integrate an American university, as a non-English speaking international student, you will be required to justify your level of English. In general, two main tests are required:
⇒ TOEFL (Test of English As A Foreign Language);
⇒ IELTS (International English Language Testing System).
Given the high demand for language certifications, it is highly recommended that you register for them about two months in advance.
- Aptitude test
In order to assess the abilities and skills necessary to follow their programs, American universities require admission tests!
